With the start of the new year, it is common for each of us take stock on decisions of the past and re-evaluate the direction of our future. We think fondly of our successes and joys along the way and aspire to be better as we forge ahead. There is something deep within us that yearns to continue growing and refining who we are. How else can we explain the millions of resolutions initiated as the calendar rolls over every year?
So, what is the ultimate litmus test of whether we succeed in becoming better people in this coming year? Furthermore, what allows a company like Danville to continue to lead in the field of disabilities services for over three decades, and ensures us we will stay on track? Can the former really be determined by the loss of 25 pounds and hitting the gym 3 times a week? Nor the latter be determined solely by growth and gain? These efforts may compose smaller pieces of a much larger puzzle, but the overarching truth about who we are as individuals and who Danville is as a company are found in a belief system that focuses on two main points:
- Never forget the “why”. Danville has never forgotten the reason we are here; to provide the best settings and supports possible to serve our clients in ways that each individual needs and desires. They are the “why”! We are dedicated to keeping them at the forefront of all we do.
- Never stop learning. The practices that were at the cutting edge in our industry 30 years ago have been left in the dust by methods that have forged even better pathways today. Danville is not satisfied with the successes of the past. We continue to look ahead to learn how we can provide even better supports well in to the future.
As you think over this past year of your life and look ahead at how you may be better this coming year, never forget the “why” you do what you do and love what you love. Then, once you reconnect with your true purpose, commit to never stop learning and growing as a person! May these two principles serve you as well as they have us at Danville!
